There’s A Little Slice Of Paradise Hiding Right Here In Nevada … And You’ll Want To Visit
There's a little slice of paradise hiding in northeastern Nevada. It isn't a tropical paradise for beach bums, with frozen drinks and little umbrellas. It's a natural paradise for outdoor enthusiasts or anyone seeking to connect with the earth.
Tucked in the Ruby Mountains, Lamoille Canyon is a glacier-sculpted canyon that's sometimes called the Yosemite of Nevada. The canyon in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest abounds with recreational opportunities, refreshing lakes and expansive views.
If you prefer to admire scenery from the comfort of your car, you can drive along the two-lane Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway. The 12-mile National Forest Byway starts here on Lamoille Canyon Road and dead-ends in the Ruby Mountains. There are also spots for pulling over along the way with interpretive signs and canyon views. Or if you feel like exploring, you can venture into the canyon itself.
No matter what you do, you can’t go wrong in this little slice of Nevada paradise.
