When you live in a state as beautiful as Nebraska, you might eventually start to take the place for granted. After all, we've stared at Nebraska's treasures - both in person and in pictures - for so long that we know every last detail of every landmark...right? Well, maybe not. How often do we get to see Nebraska's best features from above?
1. Chimney Rock
Arguably Nebraska's most recognizable landmark, Chimney Rock takes on a brand new look when you look straight down on it.
2. Scotts Bluff National Monument
The stunning Scotts Bluff monument takes up far more ground than most people expect; it sprawls out for ages. As impressive as it is from the ground, it takes on an even more awesome look from way up high.
3. Union Pacific Bailey Yard, North Platte
The world's largest railroad classification yard is a mesmerizing place to watch in action. This vantage point kind of makes all of those train cars look like toys.
4. Nebraska Capitol Building, Lincoln
Nebraska's Capitol Building, so tall and imposing from the ground, is flattened and simplified when you look straight down at it. I love that you can see the four courtyards from this angle.
5. Downtown Omaha skyline
Omaha's most iconic buildings look so tiny from above.
6. The Missouri River and Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, Downtown Omaha
Not too far away from the previous picture, this image shows off the Mighty Mo as it strains against its banks and the pedestrian bridge snaking its way above the water.
7. The Henry Doorly Zoo, Omaha
Another instantly-recognizable landmark, the zoo's geodesic dome rises up from its surroundings. Can you recognize the individual buildings from this vantage point?
8. Memorial Stadium, Lincoln
If you've been inside Memorial Stadium for a game, this view might seem a bit surreal. Look how tiny it looks! And how very orderly when there aren't thousands of people clamoring around.
9. Carhenge, Alliance
Nebraskans have a love/hate relationship with this super-recognizable landmark, but even the haters have to admit that it looks pretty impressive from above.
10. The Sandhills
The Sandhills region covers more than one-fourth of Nebraska's total area, yet many people are unaware of how truly special it is. These sweeping views may have you falling in love with the uniquely lovely region.
BONUS: NE Game and Parks From The Air
