Spending time lakeside is pretty much perfect all-year around. If we're lucky, our favorite lake allows us to cool off in the summer and to ice skate in the winter. When the temperatures start climbing and all we can think about is staying cool, we'll find no better place to be than at one of Missouri's gorgeous lakes. Lake Lincoln in Missouri, for example, provides an idyllic backdrop for a day in or on the water.
Cuivre River State Park in Troy is the perfect escape all-year around, offering a full menu of amenities from hiking to horseback riding.
However, the masterpiece of the 6,400-acre state park is, arguably, the 55-acre Lincoln Lake.
The lake beckons adventurers of all sorts. If you enjoy fishing, you'll find the lake well-stocked with bluegill, channel catfish, and largemouth bass.
Explore the lake, and admire the lush landscape snuggled around it on a kayak or a canoe. You can rent both at the park office.
If you're visiting when the temperatures are soaring, you'll probably want to spend time wading and swimming in the clear water of Lake Lincoln.
Open during the summer months, the beach-area offers a change house and plenty of space to spread out for a bit of sunbathing.
Grab a spot on the sand or on the grass. Swimming is only permitted at the beach area, so keep that in mind when you head to the park.
Don't forget to bring a picnic along. You'll find picnic tables throughout the park.
