10 Places You Recognize From Minnesota That Showed Up In Famous Movies

Minnesota features many iconic filming locations seen in popular movies.

Over the years, Minnesota has captivated audiences in more than a few motion pictures. Here are some places you've surely seen on the big screen:

1. Mall of America - Seen in Jingle All The Way (1996).

They also filmed in several other Twin Cities locations. Nothing like Arnold running through St. Paul.

2. Rice Park and the Winter Carnival - Featured in 1992's The Mighty Ducks.

A hockey classic would of course be in Minnesota.

3. Bryant Lake Bowl - Beautiful Girls (1996).

4. Palisade Head - The Good Son (1993).

This was the best cliff they could find for the final fight scene.

5. The Paul Bunyan Statue - One was specially made for Fargo.

While the actual statue was made for the movie, it made all of the other Paul Bunyans in Minnesota famous.

6. Wabasha - Again replicated for a movie, Grumpy Old Men (1993).

They still have the Grumpy Old Men Festival, with ice fishing, a pet pageant, bingo, a cribbage tournament and live music.

7. The Fitzgerald Theater - A Prairie Home Companion (2006)

St. Paul’s oldest operating theater has been home to the Prairie Home Companion radio program and live show for a long, long time.

8. Eden Prairie Center - Mallrats (1995).

9. First Ave 7th Street Entry - Purple Rain (1984).

An instant cult classic and featuring one of Minnesota's favorite places.

10. Mickey's Diner - In The Mighty Ducks, Jingle All the Way, and A Prairie Home Companion.

It's St. Paul's favorite!

Clearly, Hollywood loves Minnesota, and who could blame them with classic places like these! How many of these places have you been to?
