But unfortunately, many of the best places to spot agates, such as state parks and other state-owned property, do not allow you to take your finds home.

Get Pickin is a fun attraction in Cloquet, Minnesota, where you can dig through rock piles for agates to bring home.

The owners periodically get special deliveries of rocks from a nearby gravel pit. Then, they open the property up to visitors who would like to try their hand at rock picking!

Visits are by appointment only and should be scheduled online. Get Pickin is open Friday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In 2022, a visit costs $15 per person, with the cost first person’s admission at the time of booking. Others in the same group may pay upon arrival.

Your admission includes a small bag that you can fill to your heart’s content. Additional bags are available for $10.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own gloves, rakes, spray bottles, and other tools. These will come in handy for easily picking through the pile and cleaning off rocks.
