The 10 Best Places To Hide In Michigan In The Event Of A Zombie Apocalypse

It's really only a matter of time before we'll be faced with a zombie attack of apocalyptic proportions. So what are we supposed to do to protect ourselves? Where do we turn in Michigan to hide from the undead, or better yet, to start anew? We've got some answers right here.

10) Mount Arvon

Sitting at an elevation of 1,979 feet, this is the highest point in Michigan, making for the perfect vantage point to track an oncoming zombie invasion.

9) Fayette Historic State Park

The spirits that linger in this historic ghost town will serve as some protection against the undead. And if necessary, these gargantuan furnaces could be the perfect place to burn zombie corpses.

8) Fort Wayne

This historic site right along the Detroit River is ideal for a few reasons. The water and the fortified limestone barracks serve as solid protection against attack. There's ample space for survivors to dwell. And since the place once served as an ancient Native American burial site, there's a ghostly element that should stave off the intruders.

7) Porcupine Mountains

A high elevation is important for spotting the undead. But so is seclusion and a sufficient water source. You've got both here, making starting over entirely possible.

6) Isle Royale National Park

Completely surrounded by water, you'll keep invading zombies at bay... You will, however, need to get over your fear of hunting moose and wolves, as you'll need their pelts to keep warm during frigid UP winters.

5) St. Clair River, Algonac

This utility boat on a river is the perfect place to hide from the undead.

4) Northville Psychiatric Hospital

The tortured souls that suffered in this abandoned hospital are surely a cake walk compared to the zombies flesh-eating horror. Plus, there are plenty of nooks in which to bunker down.

3) Belle Isle, Detroit

There's no way the zombies will make it to Belle Isle, right guys? The current of the Detroit River should keep them at bay, right? RIGHT?!

2) Detroit Salt Mine

Ah yes, the cool salt mine of Detroit will be the perfect hiding place for the oncoming apocalypse.

1) Michigan State University

The best way to survive a zombie apocalypse is to be prepared. And at MSU, an entire 2-credit course entitled, Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse – Disasters, Catastrophes, and Human Behavior, is dedicated to diving deep into the nature of society and humanity when faced with catastrophic events.

Gives you quite a bit to think about, right? Also, how lucky are we Michiganders to have such a vast stretch of land and water to stow away in, in the event that the undead have taken over?
