Point Lookout State Park in Southern Maryland always makes for a great day trip, or even a weekend away.

This state park is full of beauty...

...and a ton of history as well. In the mid-1800s it was used as a prisoner of war camp.

The camp became overcrowded and the prisoners were living in unsanitary conditions. Eventually, nearly 4,000 men died on the grounds.

While visitors have claimed to hear unusual sounds, including ghostly footsteps outside of their campsites...

...most of the paranormal activity is said to happen in and around Point Lookout Lighthouse.
