If you're on the hunt for interesting places to go in Maine, you'll want to consider hopping in the car and finding this spot. One part roadside attraction and one part store, this is a good way to spend an afternoon if you like your activities to end in pie! While they offer tons inside, if you choose to see things from a distance you'll still be amazed!

Maine is notable for quite a few things. Mountains, rocky coast and lobster. But we also happen to grow one very special fruit. Blueberries!

We love picking the wild version at the end of the summer, but there’s also a place where you can celebrate Maine’s favorite fruit any time you want! Welcome to Wild Blueberry Land in Columbia Falls!

You’ll first know you’ve found the right place when you see a giant blueberry building at the side of US 1. While that’s fun on its own, there’s so much more to see here!

And we owe it all to Dell and Marie Emerson, who have loved blueberries for more than 30 years.

It all started with Dell who worked for 53 years on the wild blueberry research farm at the University of Maine. It was the only one in the country!

Marie is an award-winning chef who taught her gift for more than 30 years across Maine Community Colleges.

Their mission is to preserve one of America's last natural, wild commercially grown blueberry crops.

While the blueberry building is alluring, you can also visit the Emersons’ 160-acre farmland above the Pleasant River.

If you choose to stick around at the shop, you’ll want to explore the area. There’s an entire mini-golf course focused on the theme of blueberries.

And inside you'll find just about anything you want involving blueberries. Pies, muffins, scones, jams, jellies, baking mixes, candy, teas and coffee, ice cream, dog treats...the list goes on and on!

There's so much to do and see at Wild Blueberry Land, that you'll want to make sure you've given yourself enough time to explore it all. And be sure to leave with some baked goodies and treats!

Wild Blueberry Land has varying hours so if you'd like to shop give them a call on 207-483-2583 to check their hours and make sure they’re open. Or you can check them out on their website and on Facebook.
