Portland Maine Is The Only U.S. Destination Listed As A Must-Visit In 2020 By Conde Nast

Portland is highlighted as a top winter destination with great seafood, coffee, and unique attractions.

We've all known for a long time that Portland is one of the greatest cities in America. And while some might believe that other Portland is the one to visit first, we all know that ours is the best. And, for good reason, a number of national publications are in agreement. What is arguably the authority on all things travel, Condé Nast, released their list of must-visit winter destinations and the only US city on the list is...you guessed it! Read on to see some of the restaurants and experiences that make it so great!

There's seafood aplenty!

This is probably obvious, but Portlanders love their seafood. There are a number of places to eat some of the best fish in town, but we're especially partial to the oysters at Eventide. Served up on a bar made of ice, the menu is eclectic and fun!

Food trucks are everywhere! From this truck that serves up Mexican Korean food to an entire truck devoted to baked potatoes, there are plenty of meals you can get on-the-go here.

There's no better place to get coffee.

Coffee is one of the best things about being in Portland and there are plenty of special local spots to get it. We love Tandem Coffee & Bakery, Arabica and Bard but there are plenty of other little shops hidden through. Here's a fun tip: get a cup of coffee at the Inkwell Lounge in the Press Hotel and come back for free refills until noon!

There are plenty of special places to spend the night.

The Press Hotel is part of the Autograph Collection and sits within the old Portland Press Herald building. It's full of unique details all centered around things like typeface, including actual typewriters in the lobby on which to share your own message.

There are plenty of attractions.

Just a few short miles from downtown is the Portland Head Light, one of the most photographed lights in the country. It's a beautiful sight as it sits looking over Casco Bay.

The views are incredible

Head to the Eastern Promenade in Portland to spend some time outdoors looking out over Casco Bay. You can spend hours gazing at the boats, or watch the fog roll in depending on the weather.

If visiting Portland isn't enough, you might want to consider actually staying here permanently. Here are 15 reasons to drop everything and move to Portland.
