The Sight Of Fall Foliage In Maine From Up Above Is Unbeatable On This Scenic Chair Lift Ride

Enjoy autumn at Sunday River in Maine with scenic chair lift rides offering stunning views of fall foliage.

Now that we're officially experiencing autumn we've been focused on finding some of the best ways to enjoy the season. Of course we've got some incredible hikes that can be done throughout the state, but as the weather gets chillier we're looking for ways to relax and take it all in. One of the best is this unique (and new!) chair lift ride at one of Maine's most favorite ski resorts.

For people in New England, Sunday River in Newry evokes images of snow, skiing and hot chocolate.

And while we love all that snow this time of year things are just a little bit different around here.

Welcome to fall at Sunday River! When the trees turn an astounding array of colors.

And right now the region is just entering peak color, making this an ideal time to visit. But, don't simply hop in the car and look out the windows. This year, up your leaf peepin' game by enjoying one of Sunday River's scenic lift rides!

Through Indigenous Peoples' Day weekend in October visitors can take a ride up the North Peak on either an open chair or in an enclosed gondola cabin to take in the views of the Sunday River Valley and Mahoosuc Mountains.

The ride up the peak is about 11 minutes.

After getting to the top, you can explore, take photos and simply appreciate that beauty offered by this region of Maine.

Then, hop back on and take the ride back down. Spend some more time here by heading off on one of the local hiking trails.

But remember that this is only offered through October 11th! After that, you'll need to wait for winter to arrive for these snowy views.

The Sunday River scenic lift rides can be taken Saturdays and Sundays from September 26th through October 11th, which is Columbus Day Weekend. That weekend you can also enjoy the ride on Friday. You can learn more about the ride and book your tickets here. Tickets start at $15.

And if you're looking for more fun ways to enjoy the season, how about a trip to the state's only national park? If you're not convinced that it's worth it after the summer here are 10 reasons why it's better to visit Acadia National Park in Maine this fall.
