Locals in Portland know what these shiny, red doors mean.

They're the first step to a unique dining experience in Maine that might feel like heaven, but certainly doesn't require any prayer!

Currently on the the National Register of Historic Places, Grace is located in a former Methodist Church that was built around 1856.

The design of the building was kept as intact as possible and today, diners will see the original pews in the downstairs seating area, the pulpit as the host stand, and the coal chutes which are now wine cellars.

The inside is vast, with beautiful details including the incorporation of the stained glass window design into the logo and the cover to the beautiful round bar area.

Speaking of the bar, this is where you'll want to sit if you want to order from the best bar menu in town!

Featuring small plates to share, this menu is a robust as the main menu for a fraction of the cost.

But, the real reason we sit here is the famous Grace Burger, which is packed with cheddar, tomato confit and pickled onions with a price tag of only $6.

And, each week the Grace Burger has a rival burger created by the staff and competing for the number one spot.

If digging into the best burger in Portland feels utterly ungodly, you might consider getting the veggie plate instead.

Or some fresh seafood!

Everything you order will come with their fresh bread, which is really just a vessel for the incredible maple butter that comes with it!

The kitchen is wide open, making the wait for the food a little more entertaining.

And, those looking for a one-stop wedding shop will love the beautiful way they can transform the space downstairs into something worthy of a sermon.

Grace is a few blocks from the Old Port proper, but worth the 5 minute walk.

Here's another church in Maine. While beautiful and located in a stunning waterfront locale, you won't actually be able to enjoy happy hour at THIS chapel!
