The Stunning Building In Maine That Looks Just Like Hogwarts

We've all had a fascination with castles at one time or another. Maybe it has something to do with epic tales of knights or the political struggle between kingdoms - or for many among the younger generation, it very well could have been the Harry Potter books and movies. You may have noticed one church in Maine while traveling around Lewiston. It looks like a castle and, better yet, looks like it would perfectly fit into the world of Harry Potter. In fact, it looks just like Hogwarts in Maine.

The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is an epic building in Lewiston, Maine.

The impressive architecture is second to none. Two looming towers line the front giving it a distinct castle appearance. The statues and artwork interwoven within the stone structure are immaculate and truly a marvel to see. It’s almost like a Maine Hogwarts!

The church looks like Hogwarts and the European touches are uncanny. It feels as though the statues along the building might just step out and start moving around on their own.

Inside, tall pillars and vaulted ceilings give the impression of the great hall in which you would find students eating meals under floating candlelight. Who knew we had a little Harry Potter in Maine?

Outside of the building gives the illusion of hidden passages and many doors leading to secret areas.

If you let your imagination go wild, you can think of all kinds of things that may be hidden within the stone walls. Maybe a giant serpent, or a massive three-headed dog. Most likely nothing like that is hidden but it makes you wonder.

The building is simply stunning and reminds us of the many students who call Hogwarts home for the school year. This may be a place of worship, but we can't help but think magic is possible within this structure that looks like a castle.

Can’t you just picture students flying around this building on broomsticks training for their next Quidditch match? It looks like it could be one of the castles in Maine!

There may not be any spells or mythical creatures in this church in Maine. We can’t help but think of the resemblance but for now, we will just have to read the books and enjoy the movies. Still, we encourage you to marvel at the architecture at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul to see Hogwarts in Maine!
