Fall in Louisiana is my favorite time of year. The second that the first cool front blows through, I'm making gumbo (like everyone else). Fall is the best time to spend your weekends outside, and lucky for us, there are plenty of fall festivals in Louisiana to add to your calendar. These Louisiana fall festivals should keep your October weekend busy with all the good food and music you can handle. It'll be a blast for the whole family this year! Welcome to the best fall festivals in Louisiana:
1. Que Pasa Fest, Metairie
October 5-6, 2024
Come out to celebrate Louisiana’s Hispanic heritage at this two-day festival in Metairie’s Lafreniere Park. The family-friendly festival is free to enter and boasts a ton of local food vendors, arts and crafts tents, games, and live music. Get ready to dance and enjoy some yummy foods!
2. Louisiana Gumbo Festival, Chackbay
October 11-13, 2024
Nothing says fall in Louisiana quite like a big bowl of gumbo. There are several gumbo festivals in Louisiana that take place during October and November, and this one is in Chackbay. 2024 marks the 51st year of the annual festival, so come out and celebrate and fill your belly with delicious gumbo!
3. Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival, Madisonville
October 19-20, 2024
The Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival is always a good time. I’ve been going to this festival since I was a kid, and can’t recommend it enough! Spend the day strolling the waterfront and checking out all of the incredible vendors, munching on delicious food, and listening to some good tunes. Seeing all of the boats on display is fascinating, and if you’ve got a kid who's into boats, this is a must! Be sure to check out Fairview-Riverside State Park while you’re in the area. It’s just on the other side of the river and is a tiny little park with beautiful views. This festival really brings the community together.
4. Rougarou Fest, Houma
October 18-20, 2024
This unique fall festival in Louisiana might be the best of the bunch. Head on down to Houma for a full weekend of legendary fun. It’s so much more fun when you dress up, so get creative with your costume. There will be awards in several categories, including pets, most creative, funniest, scariest, movie characters, and kid’s costumes, too! Don't miss the Rougarou Festival! It's sure to be a thrilling time.
5. Abita Fall Fest, Abita Springs
October 11-12. 2024
Good food, great beer, amazing music...what more could you ask for? This festival in Abita Springs always turns out a great crowd, despite being one of the newer festivals in Louisiana. The festival began in 2019 as a celebration of Abita Springs’ culture, music, and art, and has since grown into one of the most anticipated festivals on the Northshore. Nothing like an Abita brew on a beautiful fall day.
