Only In Louisiana Will You Find The Bayou King Cake Festival
We may still be in Christmas mode, but let’s not forget what the New Year brings: Carnival season! When the color scheme changes from red and green to purple, green, and gold, there’s one special addition to everyone’s kitchen counters in the new year, and that’s the king cake! The Bayou King Cake Festival is a new festival that’s sure to become one of the best festivals in Louisiana. Here’s everything you need to know:
Mark your calendars for January 27, 2024, at 10 a.m. because that’s when the Bayou King Cake Festival kicks off.
The one-day festival celebrated its first year in 2023 with so much success that they’re doing it again.
The festival takes over the streets of Downtown Thibodaux with plenty of fun-filled activities for families with kids of all ages.
The proceeds from the festival go into the Lafourche Parish Education System.
Kids from the schools had the opportunity to submit a poster for the festival, and this year Milee Sellers from Thibodaux High School won the contest. You’ll be seeing this poster all over the Thibodaux area as the date gets closer.
Of course, there's going to be a parade.
The parade begins at 11 a.m., so make sure you get a good spot!
You can also purchase a spot to join the parade.
The more creative you can get, the better!
23 vendors came out for last year to compete for the honor of “Best King Cake.” Who will win this year?
Bakeries from all over will be giving out samples for you to try.
The winner is chosen by the crowd, so cast your vote wisely!
Each general admission ticket includes five tastings and one voting doubloon. There will be all sorts of flavors to try including traditional king cakes, filled king cakes, and even a few savory king cakes!
Winners will be announced at 4 p.m.
Live music will take the stage from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Souled Out will be playing from 2 p.m. till the end. Come out and celebrate!
