And the best way to enjoy these beauteous bodies of water? By boat! Namely, the Kentucky State University Thorobred.

This beautiful river boat is owned and operated by Kentucky State University as part of the school's Land Grant Program for research and education.

But it's not just used by students and faculty; this boat is open seasonally for public tours... free public tours!

Cruises last approximately 90 minutes, and take place most Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and the third Saturday of June, July, August, September, and October at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.

Reservations are required and should be made at least three days prior to your requested cruise date/time, and are first come, first served. A full schedule can be viewed on the website.

The best part (aside from this river boat tour being totally free *and* totally fun?)? This epic adventure is super accessible, too; for those with wheelchairs or strollers, there is a ramp that can be used to board the river boat.
