The First Annual Wild Foods Cook-Off In Kansas Is An Epic Competition For Foodies

Fancy yourself a chef? There's an exciting cooking competition in Kansas coming up pretty soon that looks to be pretty fun for anyone interested in the sort of self-sufficient lifestyle that we Sunflower State residents are so fond of. The first-ever Wild Foods Cook-Off in Lawrence, KS is scheduled for Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Baker University Wetlands Discovery Center. This is such a great event that celebrates all things wild in Kansas, and best of all, it's free to both enter and taste-test the entries. There will also be informative workshops available if you're interested in learning more about the Baker University Wetlands or the environment here.

The Baker Wetlands are one of the most beautiful places in Kansas. This cooking competition will be held at the park's Discovery Center.

The cook-off features ingredients that are locally procured from the Kansas outdoors.

There are a variety of categories on the schedule: wild game, wild fish, wild plants, wild mushrooms, wild sweets (such as fruits), and wild invasive species.

The event is free to enter and no professional training is required, so even if you're just a home cook, feel free to sign up.

Advanced registration is required, so make sure to get your form submitted if you're interested.

Even if you're not interested in cooking anything, the general public is invited to come and taste the dishes.

There will even be a "Community Favorite" category for the dish most liked by the attendees.
