With their varying historic architectures, there is truly something for every taste, as shown by these 11 churches in Kansas that will mesmerize you in the best way possible:

1. Lecompton Community Building (Lecompton)

What is now the historic town's ("Where Slavery Began to Die") community building was once the United Brethren Church, which was built in 1906 and abandoned in the 1920s after the dismantlement of the radical church.

2. Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Wichita)

While it may look like something you would find in Europe, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is actually the seat of the Diocese of Wichita that is also the city's oldest Catholic Church (constructed in 1872).

3. Cawker City United Methodist Church (Cawker City)

Situated inside the Cawker City United Methodist Church is the state's oldest church organ: an incredible Henry Pilcher's Sons masterpiece built in 1886 in Louisville, Kentucky. (Be sure to stop by for one of the church services, as this work of art is still in use!)

4. St. Anthony of Padua Church (Strong City)

Unfortunately, we were unable to find out much about this small but beautiful church, aside from the info on its Facebook page stating that: "St. Anthony's Catholic Church is located in Strong City, Kansas. Sunday mass time is 8:30 am. The Adoration Chapel is open from 8 pm Sun. to 6 am Wed."

5. Culver United Methodist Church (Culver)

Located in the small town of Culver (population: 121) is this gorgeous little church, whose mission is to "Follow Jesus, Make Disciples, Transform the World."

6. University United Methodist Church (Salina)

An example of more modern architecture is that of the University United Methodist Church, which may look contemporary on the outside, but boasts classic interior features like stained glass, wooden pews, and devout parishioners.

7. Niotaze Methodist Episcopal Church (Niotaze)

Designed by world-renowned church architecture Benjamin D. Price in 1895, this charming Episcopal church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

8. Holy Cross Church (Pfeifer)

Named one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas Architecture, Holy Cross is a Gothic-style church made up of majestic spires and limestone. The Pfeifer masterpiece has been standing tall since 1918.

9. Dunlap Baptist Church (Dunlap)

One of the few remaining buildings in the ghost town of Dunlap is that of the Baptist Church, which at one time served the town's African American residents who had settled in the area following the Civil War.

10. Ft. Leavenworth Memorial Chapel (Ft. Leavenworth)

As per photographer Pat Henson, "Memorial Chapel, was built by prison labor in 1878 of stone quarried on post. The round window behind the chapel's front altar was intentionally installed slightly askew by an inmate who was angry at his work boss. This chapel has brass cannon imbedded in the walls at the sides of the church, and photos of many of the officers involved in the early history of the fort, including some of the Custer family."

11. Arvonia Church (Arvonia)

Listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and Register of Kansas Historic Places, the old Arvonia Church was originally established by Welsh immigrants who founded the area in 1869.
