The Breathtaking Mansion In Kansas You Must Visit This Year

Seelye Mansion in Abilene, Kansas, is a well-preserved historic home with fascinating tours showcasing its original decor and architecture.

Since the Sunflower State is fairly new when compared to, say, the thirteen original colonies, you'd be forgiven for thinking there might not be very many historic homes in Kansas that are worth a visit. However, we actually have quite a lot of well-preserved history here! Obviously, we've got plenty of Wild West attractions like Dodge City, but there are also several more genteel historic sites throughout Kansas that are very informative and feel like a step back in time. One of our favorites is the Seelye Mansion in the charming town of Abilene. This place has so much history and the tours are absolutely fascinating.

Abilene is one of the most charming cities in Kansas. As a major cattle town during the Wild West days and the boyhood home of President Dwight Eisenhower, there is a ton of history here.

One of the most beautiful pieces of history in Abilene is the Seelye Mansion.

The breathtaking home was built in 1905 for a local doctor and is now a home museum open for tours.

With 25 rooms and 11,000 square feet, there's a lot to see here. Most of the furniture inside of the house was purchased at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis.

The house has been extremely well-preserved and offers a look inside life a century ago.

Much of the home's decor is original, and most of what isn't came from a 1920s remodel by none other than Frank Lloyd Wright.

The home's stunning architecture and remarkably well-preserved history make it one of the best historical home tours in Kansas.
