Dating Back To 1874, New Lancaster General Store Is A True Kansas Treasure

New Lancaster General Store in Paola, Kansas, is a historic building now home to Middle Creek Winery and Kansas-made products.

There's a lot to do and see around Kansas, but sometimes we forget about all the historic buildings standing around. To think that a store established way back in 1874 is still around really makes it a Kansas treasure. That's a long time to stick around! Next weekend you're in the Paola area, make sure to stop by.

Welcome to a relic from the past, the New Lancaster General Store in Paola.

It's a beautifully kept old building that's on the National Register of Historic Places, and was originally established in 1874.

Though it once started as a general store, today it's the home of Middle Creek Winery and also sells Kansas-made art, gifts, goods, and antiques.

Their wines are all handcrafted, and range from dry to sweet reds and whites. They also make wine slushies in the warmer months, so don't forget to stop by when it's nice and hot outside. Scheduling a wine tasting tour is as easy as giving them a call.

Their peach and blackberry wines go really fast, so if they have enough produce to make them, make sure and get a bottle before they disappear!

Everything from the service, to the occasional live music and the wonderful array of Kansas-made products on the shelves makes this old general store a must-see spot during your travels. When you're around Paola, make sure to stop by sometime!

They're open from noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Sundays, and from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
