Iowa has some great bookstores, but it long lacked a specialty store dedicated entirely to children's books! That all changed in the small town of Marion, thanks to a small independent bookstore called Swamp Fox Books. Operating for several years as part of a collection of micro-shops known as West End Marion, Swamp Fox Books has now moved out of its old digs and into a larger building - and it's adorable old location has been given a new coat of paint and a cute new mascot as part of its transformation into Swamp Fox Kids! The first dedicated children's bookstore in Iowa, Swamp Fox Kids packs a lot of fun into a small location and has been rolling out the red carpet with some unique events. Come on in, bring the kids, and help them kick off a lifelong love of reading.

Full of tiny stores, the West End of Marion is a charming shopping district with a unique resident.

The store is also known for its large puzzle collection, so it's no surprise the place is popular before people hunker down for the long winter months.

The store recently held a Golden Ticket contest where those who find the prize won a free year of audiobooks, so keep an eye out for future promotions!

Before the start of the school year, you'll usually see a sidewalk sale promoting some of the bookstore's top sellers and unique supplies.

The entire West End shopping district is full of charm and frequently hosts festivals - including visits from local favorite resident Prima the Alpaca!
