By now, you've probably heard all about the popular sites and marvels to visit all across Indiana, but what about the slightly more bizarre attractions? Indiana has a ton of amazing roadside attractions that are worth a stop if you're ever driving by. Here are 12 of our favorite Indiana roadside attractions that you absolutely have to check out!
1. Rotary Jail Museum - Crawfordsville
This historic and unique rotary jail museum is home to a former jailhouse that still rotates! It was the first rotating jail design in the United States, and remains the only operating rotary jail in the country to this day.
2. The Pink Elephant - Fortville
This classy, giant pink elephant loves guzzling from its huge martini glass. This awesome, and slightly odd, elephant statue can be found wearing glasses with its martini glass raised outside of Elite Beverages in Fortville.
3. Shoe Tree - Milltown
Shoe Tree in Millton, Indiana is a popular tourist attraction. Located deep in the heart of Crawford County, shoe tree is a large cluster of trees literally decorated with shoes. People from all over the country gather to see this unique tree and to add their own shoes to the mix. If your kids are growing out of their shoes, donate them to shoe tree for an unforgettable family experience.
4. RV/MH Hall of Fame - Elkhart
If you're looking for a quick tour of a slightly offbeat museum, the RV/MH Hall of Fame is an absolute must. Check out the stunning historical RVs on display throughout the premises.
5. The Big Peach - Bruceville
The Big Peach in Bruceville is a favorite roadside attraction in Indiana. Not only do you get to take pictures with a 20 foot tall peach replica, but there's also a scaled down version of the Washington Monument next to it.
6. World's Largest Sycamore Stump - Kokomo
If you're ever traveling through Kokomo, you have to stop to witness the world's largest sycamore stump. The large stump is over 50 feet around, making it pretty massive to behold.
7. Joe Palooka Statue - Oolitic
Fans of the Palooka Joe comics will love the statue made in his honor, found in Oolitic, Indiana. This statue is bound to bring back fond memories of childhood.
8. Minion Silo - Ossian
This silo-turned-minion can be found at a family farm in Ossian. When it came time to repaint the silo, the family opted to turn it into a giant minion, making it a roadside attraction for families across the Hoosier state to enjoy.
9. The Hubcap Lady - Jeffersonville
This hubcap woman statue is approximately 20 feet tall and is located at a lumber yard inside of Jeffersonville. It was created entirely of hubcaps as a tribute to women everywhere.
10. World's Largest Ball of Paint - Alexandria
This huge ball of paint is a fun roadside attraction for all ages. The best part is, you can help add to the ball of paint (by appointment only), making this a fun and interactive roadside attraction.
11. Bartholomew County Veterans Memorial - Columbus
These stunning limestone pillars are quite a sight to take in and well worth a quick stop along the road. The limestone columns have won design awards and were constructed to honor those who gave their lives in service of our country.
12. John Dillinger Museum - Crown Point
This amazing Hoosier museum is dedicated entirely to the famous John Dillinger. Anything you've ever wanted to know about the famed criminal can be found in this intriguing museum in Crown Point.
