Pine Lake Park Is A Lakeside Waterpark In Indiana That’s The Perfect Place To Spend A Summer’s Day

Pine Lake Water Park in Berne, Indiana, is a historic and affordable summer destination with numerous attractions.

Tucked away in lesser-known and tragically underrated Berne (which is easily one of the most unique small towns in Indiana), is one of the Hoosier State's best (and oldest) water parks. Originally started as a farmer's sand quarry in 1908, the property eventually became a swim lake around 1918. In 1922, the first iteration of the park was born when the then-owner rented out the land to two entrepreneurs. It was called the Berne Swimming Club, and amenities were soon added, piece by piece, over the years. Finally, in the 1930s, the owner of the lake sold it to one of the entrepreneurs and his sons. It was on track to become one of the best things to do in Indiana during the summer. Pine Lake Water Park in Indiana is a must-do for pretty much everyone - so pack up the sunblock and let's go.

Of course, this is a sterilized version of Pine Lake's beginning; the full story is full of twists and turns, closures, re-openings, transfers of ownership, and even a tornado.

But really, what matters the most is this: Pine Lake Water Park is easily one of the single best places to go in Indiana during summer, and we are hopelessly obsessed.

There are a few things that have remained consistent during the life of this legendary local getaway.

One, it's always been incredibly affordable. Two, it's always been one of the most beloved things to do among locals. Three, it's always changing and improving, full of new ideas and state-of-the-art fun stuff. And four: It. Is. A. BLAST.

So, how is it that this popular water park in Indiana seems to still fly under the radar for anyone not near the town of Berne?

We're not sure, but we hope to change that: this delightful little hidden gem deserves to be one of the top attractions in the Hoosier State. The sheer number of fun things to do while you're here is almost ridiculous, considering how low the entry fees are.

No, you won't be spending $40+ per person to experience Pine Lake Water Park.

Try something more around "$10 and under". Seriously! The most up-to-date pricing is available on the official website, and you might just do a double-take when you discover just how affordable it is.

Among the attractions at Pine Lake Water Park, you'll find a duck boat, jumping platforms, loads of slides, playgrounds, and so much more.

We strongly suggest arriving bright and early, when the park first opens for the day. As strangely lesser-known as it is for the rest of the state, the folks who live nearby the park absolutely LOVE it, and you'll understand why immediately.

Pine Lake Water Park is truly one of the best summer destinations in Indiana, and we can't wait to go back.
