Spend A Magical Afternoon At Butterfly Kaleidoscope, Indiana’s Largest Butterfly House
The Indianapolis Zoo's Butterfly Kaleidoscope is a must-visit spring attraction featuring over 40 species of butterflies in a vibrant indoor garden.
The Indianapolis Zoo is an amazing place to take the entire family all year round. However, one season tends to stick out above the rest: in the spring, the zoo opens up a fairy wonderland full of beautiful, brilliantly colored flowers, plants, and butterflies. It's the best butterfly house in Indiana, and it's called Butterfly Kaleidoscope.
Every year as the weather begins to warm up, the Indianapolis Zoo transforms its gorgeous indoor garden into a paradise for butterfly enthusiasts.
Butterflies probably take the cake (or, rather, the nectar) for being the most-loved flying insect. What's not to love? They're gentle and vibrantly beautiful, and they do a tremendous service to the earth. Sounds great to us!
There are more than 40 stunning species of butterfly on the loose here.
Well, maybe they're not "on the loose" so much as they're free. Watch as they flutter from flower to flower, collecting precious nectar to help them continue their journeys through life.
The gardens are warm, pleasant, and, given the surrounding plant life, they smell incredible.
Make sure to check out the "Emergence Chamber," where newly-hatched butterflies begin their adult lives. Every day, dozens of new butterflies emerge and take flight.
Among the 40+ species you can find here are paper kites, Julias, and giant owls.
There are also several species of moths present at Butterfly Kaleidoscope, too - moths are like the butterflies of the night. Goth butterflies.
Guests are greatly encouraged to bring their cameras, as the vibrant colors and fascinating insects are great photo-ops.
Tread carefully and make sure you don't have any of our flying friends underfoot; they're delicate, and they are everywhere!
Admire the stained-glass windows that are an integral part of the colorful atmosphere at the best butterfly house in Indiana!
Guests must reserve their time in the garden ahead of time and can do so on the Indianapolis Zoo's website.
Also offered at Butterfly Kaleidoscope is plenty of education for people interested in starting their own butterfly gardens at home, educational programs and events, and more. Make sure to check out the official website for reservations and more information.
