Hawaii’s history of surfing is an important one.

Surfing was originally called wave sliding, and it had a lot of societal and spiritual meaning to the people. Today, Haleiwa and Oahu's North Shore are called the "Surfing Capital of the World."

Now there is a new way to surf on Oahu’s West Side.

Haseko has begun building a 100ft wide man-made surf park, right outside Hoakalei Resort, that will serve as the centerpiece of Wai Kai Lagoon.

This wave technology is straight out of Germany and features a breaking wave, not a barrel.

The wave height can be adjusted from 2 - 6.5ft, and you can change the wave to be ridden by just one surfer, or use the "party wave" function, where many people can surf together.

The park offers waves for all skill levels, from beginner to expert. You'll find peaceful activities like rowing as well.

It also offers bodysurfing and bodyboarding options. The wave generated is said to be the widest stationary wave in the world.

The surf park also boasts 200,000 square feet of retail space.

The water park is a part of Hoakalei Resort.

The resort currently features four residential neighborhoods, and with the nearby Hoakalei Golf Course and Country Club, this entire area is filled with fun. Hoakalei’s 52-acre Wai Kai recreational lagoon is now a premier destination.

This beautiful spot is the perfect place for a wonderful surf park and wave pool.

This exciting place is an adventure you won’t want to miss! Plan your trip now and get ready for some real fun you will want to experience again and again!
