Hawaii is home to some of the most beautiful places in the country, many of which contain hidden magnificent cascading waterfalls, old, breathtaking buildings, colorful gardens, and lush forests. These 11 spots are straight out of a fairytale, and are sure to leave you speechless.

1) Manoa Falls Trail

Located on this insanely popular Oahu waterfall hike is a beautiful banyan tree that forms a natural archway that could easily transport you into another world, or into a storybook.

2) Oheo Gulch

Also known as the seven sacred pools, this idyllic cascading waterfall is one of the most popular destinations on Maui’s east coast – and we are definitely not questioning why.

3) Exotic Treehouse

Described as a playhouse for adults, this enchanting treehouse is located near the Kilauea Volcano on the Big Island. Step through the gorgeous moon gate, pictured below, and begin your unforgettable stay. The cozy house features a cedar hot tub, a trap door to access the top floor, and stained glass windows.

4) Iolani Palace’s Coronation Pavilion

Built for the February 12, 1883 coronation of King Kalakaua and Queen Kapiolani, the Keli’iponi coronation pavilion is the only location for coronations in the United States. Be honest, looking at this photograph transports you right into the pages of a storybook, doesn’t it?

5) Palapala Ho'omau Congregational Church

A small, charming limestone church located on Maui’s Hana Coast, Palapala Ho’omau was built in 1857, and still holds services today.

6) Thurston Lava Tube

Located in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, this short 20-minute walk through a thick forest leads visitors to a 500-foot lava tube that once carried molten lava. There is something magical about the vibrant green light from the tunnel’s entrance.

7) Byodo-In Temple

Located on Oahu’s windward coast, the Byodo-In Temple is a non-denominational Buddhist temple that is a replica of a 900-year Japanese temple. If the replica is this impressive, I can’t imagine the real thing.

8) Lili’uokalani Gardens

Featuring the largest Edo-style garden outside of Japan, the 30-acre garden was named after Hawaii’s last reigning queen. This beautiful stone bridge is right out of a folklore.

9) Makupu’u Lighthouse

Everything about Makupu’u Point is absolutely entrancing, but this lighthouse is straight out of an old novel. The brilliant lighthouse has the largest lens in the United States, and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977.

10) Bamboo Forest

Located within Maui’s Haleakala National Park is this tranquil and calm bamboo forest, complete with lush jungle foliage, waterfalls, and even a few hidden fresh water swimming holes. It looks as though this is a page from a picture book, doesn't it?

11) Waimea Bay Sea Cave

Located on Oahu’s north shore, at Waimea Bay, is this magical sea cave. I wouldn’t be surprised to find a mermaid hanging out in the crystalline water.
