Waipahu Is One Of Hawaii’s Best Halloween Towns To Visit This Fall

Hawaii Plantation Village in Waipahu transforms into a haunted attraction every October, making it the scariest Halloween town in Hawaii.

The city is also home to the Hawaii Plantation Village, an outdoor history museum that transforms into a terrifying Halloween attraction every October. The village tells the story of the island’s sugar cane workers and life on the plantation circa 1850 to 1950, as well as the history of immigration to Hawaii. It features restored buildings, replicas of various plantation structures, and a quite a few ghosts as well. Yep, this Halloween attraction is actually haunted. The Haunted Plantation has been recognized not only as Hawaii’s scariest Halloween attraction but one of the best haunts in America. Why, do you ask? Because the plantation village is haunted... not just at night, or during the month of October. Legitimately haunted.

Check out this video to learn about some of the village’s most famous residents:

Of the village’s 25 plantation houses, approximately half of them are legitimately haunted. The village is so haunted, it has been featured on Syfy, The Travel Channel, and Buzzfeed.

With such a supernatural presence, there is no question as to why they would transform the village into a haunted village each October.

It's the scariest Halloween town in Hawaii. Enter... if you dare.

This traditional-style haunted attraction draws from the already paranormal activity at the village: just add some creepy music, strobe lights, eerie mist and at least 50 costumed actors and you have a terrifying Halloween wonderland sure to scare even the biggest horror fans.

If you're looking for an adrenaline rush, this is one of the best Halloween events in Hawaii.

According to the Hawaii Plantation Village staff, more than a dozen actors at the haunted attraction have quit throughout the twelve years the attraction has been open — and now, actors are not allowed to work in the houses by themselves due to supernatural activity.

A few years ago, in the Portuguese house, an actor reported strange bruising on her leg — as though somebody, or something, had grabbed her. Another actor claimed to feel pressure on her neck, barely being able to breathe in the Okinawan house.

But it’s not just the village’s real ghosts that will terrify you at this annual event — it’s the actors who have been transformed into creatures from your worst nightmares.

Each year, the Haunted Plantation chooses a few major themes to focus on. In the past, this creepy place has focused on -- you guessed it -- clowns. Make no mistake, this is definitely the scariest Halloween town in Hawaii.
