These Man-Made Wonders in Georgia Are the Definition of a Hidden Gem
Tiny Doors ATL is an art project where little doors are tucked into small but accessible places and you can find all these hidden gems in Georgia in Atlanta.
Captivating our imagination, many stories center around hidden doors and secret passageways. There is something about the mystery that draws us in, but unlike the intangible stories on the pages of a book, Tiny Doors ATL are very real. These hidden gems in Georgia are tucked away throughout Atlanta, and finding them is a fun scavenger hunt. So next time you visit the big city, open the door to the whimsical world of these adorable little passageways just waiting to be found in Atlanta.
Starting back in 2014, Karen Anderson Singer started a project that ended up being a movement. Singer has a passion for creative expression and wants the city to have available art for everyone to enjoy. Each piece has to be found in a location that is free to visit, wheelchair accessible, and public before it gets assigned a number. If the door is located in a place of business, it will not receive a number but still has to be wheelchair accessible and public.
These doors stand only 7 inches high and are hand-crafted by the artist behind Tiny Doors ATL. They are meant to reflect the environment they are placed in, so each one is wholly unique. Some of them will look like a giant acorn and others will transform a column into an imaginative entrance designed to spark your own creativity. Each way each door is its own masterpiece.
There is a scavenger hunt where visitors and locals alike can grab the list from the Tiny Doors ATL website. Then take off into the city on an artistic adventure. This is a great free and fun family activity to see if you can find them all. There are over 25 doors just waiting to be discovered.
What started as a simple way to introduce the community of Atlanta to some amazing free art sparked a movement that moved far beyond the reach of the city. Tiny Doors ATL has become internationally known with thousands of people pouring in from every corner of planet Earth to see these wonderful creations.
I feel like good art provokes a sense of awe and wonder, maybe even sparking your own imagination to see the world differently. These pieces really capture that explosive dynamic that grabs your attention and stays with you long after you leave.
