You might've read that headline and did a double take - after all, southwest Georgia isn't particularly known for its cold winters. Many people prefer to celebrate Christmas in Georgia in the more northerly portions of the state, where you're more likely to see snow or cold weather. It's not uncommon at all to wear shorts at Christmas in southwest Georgia. But that doesn't mean the region doesn't have great holiday celebrations! One of our favorites is the Southwest Georgia Tinsel Trail, a magical collection of over 100 trees that are all decked out for the season. This is such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit, even if it's not that cold outside!
The Southwest Georgia Tinsel Trail is one of the most fun Christmas events in this region of the state. The trees are set up in the Earle May Boat Basin area of Cheney Griffin Park in Bainbridge.
The trees are sponsored by individuals and local businesses. It's so much fun to walk through and see references to locally-owned shops.
This sugary-sweet tree is sponsored by Scoops, a Bainbridge ice cream shop!
The Tinsel Trail is accessible by foot or by car and is open at all hours of the day and night. It's free to access and is a family-friendly event.
Special events like candy cane handouts and letters to Santa occur throughout the time the trees are on display.
The trees went up November 26, 2022 and won't come down until January 3, 2023.
All the holiday cheer at this Christmas tree trail in Georgia is enough to even warm the Grinch's cold heart.
