If There’s One Fall Festival You Attend in Connecticut, Make It the Oyster Festival
The Norwalk Oyster Festival is the best fall festival in Connecticut. Be sure to mark your calendars for this annual event.
For me, transitioning from summer to fall can be a little rough. Many summer festivals are scheduled for the dog days of June or July, but fall festivals often don't happen until October, so there's sometimes not much going on in late August and early September. One great early fall festival in Connecticut that you won't want to miss, however, is the Oyster Festival at Norwalk's Veterans Memorial Park. Considered one of the best festivals in Connecticut, it takes place over one whole weekend at the beginning of September every year.
The Veterans Memorial Park in Norwalk spans 35 acres, and this annual fall festival in Connecticut has grown quite a bit over its more than 45-year history, with over 50,000 festival attendees each year. This year, the 47th Annual Norwalk Oyster Festival will be held Friday through Sunday, September 5-7, 2025. Admission prices vary based on age: $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 5-12, and kids under five are admitted for free. Wristbands for unlimited rides are available for an extra charge.
One of Connecticut's most delicious fall festivals, there's plenty of incredible food to enjoy here. The International Food Court is where you'll discover an array of choices from all over the globe, including Mexican and Italian cuisine and fair foods like cotton candy and funnel cakes. Because this is an Oyster Festival, there is, of course, a special focus on fresh oysters and other New England fare such as lobster rolls.
In addition to delectable food options, local artisans will sell their wares, and all kinds of crafts, jewelry, clothing, art, and other handmade items will be available. Over 100 vendors will be on site at the festival's New England Village area.
Bring the kids to this family-friendly event. There's plenty to keep them entertained all day, including amusement park rides, face painting, games, popcorn, cotton candy, and more. Just head to the Kids' Cove area.
The Oyster Festival also features a variety of family-friendly shows and live music on the Optimum Main Stage. Concert tickets can be purchased through the Norwalk Seaport Association website.
As a New Englander, it's practically a requirement that you love seafood. However, even if you aren't a fan of oysters, the Oyster Festival in Norwalk, Connecticut, is still a fantastic, family-friendly event everyone should experience. Be sure to check out this Connecticut fall festival.
