I love Christmas, and all that comes along with it: the festivals, the lights, the events, the food, it's all so grand! With that being said, sometimes, Christmas events do tend to run together a little bit. You'll typically have a Santa, Christmas lights, lots of red and green, maybe a reindeer or two - you know the drill. There's one Christmas event in Connecticut that we're pretty sure is among the most unique in the entire world: Heights & Lights in Stamford, CT. This year's event takes place on December 3, 2023 and features both a Christmas tree lighting and a daredevil Santa high above the Stamford city streets. Check it out:
Stamford gets into the holiday spirit, so you'll see lights, festive decorations, and more all over the place if you visit any time in December.
Like most metropolitan areas, you'll find a number of tall buildings in Stamford.

Rising above most of them is the mighty Landmark, the third-tallest building in Stamford at 295 feet tall.
It's up these 22 stories that Santa Claus climbs during the Heights & Lights event.
Not only does Santa make it up to the top, but the Grinch and some of his other buddies head up there, too.
After rappelling Santa has finished his climb, he and his friends will march in a parade down Bedford Street and head to Latham Park for a festive celebration and fireworks display.
At the end of the night, the city's tree is lit up as the grand finale.
What a fun and unique Christmas event in Stamford, CT! For more information about this year's Heights & Lights event, check out the Downtown Stamford website.

Remember that setting off fireworks at home is dangerous and it's much safer to head out to one of these professional fireworks shows in Connecticut. There's no point in risking your safety for mediocre home fireworks when we have so many wonderful firework displays all over the state. So just Google "Where to watch fireworks near me" and let the 4th of July fun begin!
Fireworks may be set off at night, but many start their Fourth of July celebrations earlier in the day with a barbecue or dip in the pool. Make sure you're well-protected from the sun's harmful rays with a quality sunscreen. I love Sun Bum from REI because it's lightweight and not oily.
One of the foods that New England is best known for is maple syrup, and while we may not make anywhere near the quantity that Vermont does, more than 10,000 gallons of maple syrup is produced each year in Connecticut. The Nutmeg State is home to nearly 200 sugaring farms. This is a fascinating industry that many people don't spend much time thinking about, and if you've never toured a sugaring farm, the event we're featuring today is the perfect opportunity. Maple Weekend in Connecticut is an annual event that celebrates maple syrup production in Connecticut. Many of the state's farms are open for tours, tastings, and other events. This year's Maple Weekend is scheduled for March 16-17, 2024, and it's sure to be a sugary sweet delight for the whole family. Check it out:
