A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... *Star Wars theme begins* No, wait, STOP! Today’s post isn’t actually about Star Wars, but futuristic, sci-fi looking buildings around Colorado, which includes this church that is as unique as it is unforgettable:
Welcome to the United States Air Force Academy, which is home to nearly 5,000 of the country’s finest cadets, 18,500 acres of gorgeous campus, and...
...the impressive United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel!
Completed in 1962, the chapel boasts a modernist architecture that comes complete with 150-foot-tall spires...
...a heavy-duty tubular steel frame...
...and quite possibly one of the most distinctive silhouettes in the state.
If you thought the exterior of this sci-fi looking building was the only spectacular part, wait until you get a glimpse of the inside, which offers a Protestant...
...Catholic...
...Buddhist...
...and Jewish chapel.
Seriously... doesn't this picture of the U.S. National Historic Landmark - which is also the most visited man-made attraction in Colorado - remind you of something you'd see in Cloud City from The Empire Strikes Back?
The United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel is located in Colorado Springs and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 4:30 pm, and on Sundays from 1 pm to 4:30 pm.
