Stop And Smell The Flowers At The Lompoc Valley Flower Festival In Southern California

Lompoc flower fields are some of the highlights of this charming Southern California town. Among the cities, towns, and communities in Santa Barbara County, Lompoc often seems to go under the radar, but this quiet coastal city has much to offer. In addition to a pristine stretch of shoreline, this town has world-renowned vineyards and wineries, horse ranches, rolling green hills, restaurants, and an Old Town full of outdoor murals. And then there are the stunning flower fields that have inspired the Lompoc Flower Festival for more than six decades. This year, the 67th Annual Flower Festival will be held on June 20 through June 23, 2024 Let's take a look at these beautiful SoCal flower fields!

Lompoc, with its mild year-round Mediterranean-like climate, has been known for its flower and flower seed production since the early 1900s.

The town celebrates its long floral heritage with the annual Flower Festival.

This year, the 67th Annual Flower Festival will be held on Thursday, June 20 through Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Ryon Memorial Park with the "Shoot for the Stars" theme.

The vendors will be available all four days! Get a thrill on one of the many carnival rides and test your skills at the games.

Attendees will enjoy arts and crafts exhibits by local artisans, commercial and retail vendors, food booths, and entertainment.

This tradition of celebrating Lompoc’s agricultural legacy includes a parade with marching bands, equestrian units, drill teams, traditional dances, custom floats, and more.

The floats all feature flowers and other natural materials and are designed by local organizations.

The festival also features a Flower Show and individuals are invited to submit cut specimens from their home gardens for consideration.

If you come for the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival, make time to see the colorful fields where commercial flower growers cultivate all kinds of blooms, including Stocks, Larkspur, Bells of Ireland, Sweet Peas, Delphinium, and more.

The Lompoc Valley flower fields are private property, but they are easily viewed and photographed from the roadsides.

You can also drive around and see the Lompoc’s tranquil rolling green hills which are graced each spring with a variety of wildflowers.

The Lompoc Valley has two main roads running parallel, east and west. The best way to view the flowers is to drive west on Ocean to Floradale, then right on Floradale to Central, and continue going back and forth between Central and Ocean Avenue. Union Sugar Road is the last road through the fields before returning to town.

The best time to see the blooms in full color is from mid-April to early June. During this time, visitors can take guided tours of the fields, purchase fresh-cut flowers, and take photographs. As you can see, many reasons exist to view the gorgeous flowers in Southern California.
