Someone once argued with me that there was no way possible that Delaware could have beautiful sunsets because our sunrises looking east over the ocean surely outdid them. Well, this post begs to differ. We rooted around the Only In Delaware Facebook page and through Flickr to find some really stunning Delaware sunsets.
1. The sun sinking over Rehoboth Bay, facing west from the Lighthouse in Dewey Beach (best enjoyed with a drink in hand).
2. I never thought I'd say that a bumper to bumper commute along Kirkwood Highway looked beautiful, but this sunset changed my mind.
3. Sun spots dot the lens of the camera in this bright sunset shot over Bombay Hook.
4. In the Instagram era that we're in, filters can really make a so-so photo, so-so amazing. Would you believe that this one over Wilmington is filter free?
5. On an amazing evening the sunset lights the entire sky pinks and purples, even looking east out towards the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Henlopen.
6. No doubt that the sun was setting after a hard day of work on this farm west of Dover.
7. We usually think of pinks and reds at sunset, but this bright blue sky with an edging of orange was stunning near Woodland Beach looking west.
8. Sunsets even make the phragmites in Port Penn look beautiful silhouetted against the sky.
9. A red sky at night is a sailor's delight. These geese thought it was pretty amazing too I bet.
10. A technicolor sky lights up the dusk over the Roth Bridge north of St. George's.
11. It is hard to tell where the water stops and the night sky starts in this sunset photo at the Battery in New Castle.
12. The night sky looks like molten lava in this sunset near Smyrna.
13. All aboard for a stunning sunset aboard a ship in Lewes.
14. This sunset outside of Middletown casts a shadow over the treetops making beautiful mirrored reflections in the water.
15. Whoa! We love this perspective of sunset from the Newark Reservoir overlooking the city.
16. If the view from the ground was this stunning, I wonder what the sunset looked like in this airplane high above Dover Air Force Base.
