This Beautiful Hike In Delaware Has A Mouthwatering Restaurant Right Along The Trail
Delaware is home to several unique parks, trails, nature centers, and preserved wildlife areas. But – there’s only one spot where you’ll find beautiful trails, nature, wildlife AND a cajun restaurant. Of course, I can only be talking about St. Georges, Delaware. If you’ve never been, you’ve got to make a trip to this tiny waterside town.
The Chesapeake and Delaware Canal is an iconic body of water in Delaware that offers some stunning scenery.
If you're looking to explore it, head to the trailhead of the Mike Castle Trail in St. Georges, Delaware.
This 12 mile trail runs along the north side of the canal, from the Summit North Marina to Delaware City.
The trail passes through preserved wetlands and wildlife areas, so you'll see plenty of migratory birds, deer, rabbits, marinelife and more.
Just as fascinating as the wildlife is the architecture you'll encounter! The train and cable bridges are beautiful in their own way.
Right across the road from the trailhead, you'll find the St. Georges County Store.
Despite the humble exterior and the name, this cafe is way more than a little general store.
The St Georges General Store is home to one of the best live music stages in Delaware. You'll find a band on stage Tuesday through Saturday most weeks.
Along with the great live music, St Georges County Store serves up a full menu of cajun specialties.
Enjoy jambalaya, gumbo, and more as you listen to local and nationally-touring acts rock out on stage!
Everything on the menu here is delicious, from the fried foods to the sauteed shrimp.
Next time you're looking for a great day trip, head to St. Georges, Delaware, where you'll find a gorgeous trail and a quirky cajun restaurant!
You’ll find the St. Georges Country Store at 1 Delaware St., St Georges, DE 19733. Be sure to check out the nearby William J. Roth Bridge, one of Delaware’s most gorgeous bridges.
