We're not too far from Philadelphia here in the Nutmeg State, but if you don't feel like making the trek all the way into the city to enjoy the delicious cuisine, don't sweat it. Philly's: A Taste of Philadelphia is a new restaurant that's already making a big splash in the area. There are two locations in Connecticut, with one in Norwich and one in New Haven. This little spot has got some of the best Philly cheesesteaks in Connecticut, and many reviewers think they could be even better than the Phillys in Philly! (We know, those are fighting words.) The Travel Channel actually rated this the #1 sandwich in America! If you are looking for an authentic Philly food experience, it doesn't get much better than a visit to either of the branches of Philly's in Connecticut.
Pictured below is the New Haven location, which is right across from the town green.
There's also a Norwich branch that's not far from Upper Falls Park.
Inside, you'll find a simple, but welcoming shop for quick bites. It's so much tastier than your average chain fast food restaurant!
Of course, the Philly cheesesteaks are the stars of the show here.
These authentic ribeye steaks are served up with onions, Cheese Whiz, and toppings on a Philly roll. Not a fan of Cheese Whiz? You can opt for provolone or American cheese if you prefer.
Many restaurants that specialize in meaty entrees don't have much to offer those of us who don't eat meat, but you can get several meatless items on the menu here, including a meatless bully cheesesteak!
You can also pick up authentic South Philly hoagies here.
Wings, fries, and nachos are all available here, as well.
Seriously, if you want great Philly cheesesteaks in Connecticut, it doesn't get much better than these.
