Lake Compounce is a Nutmeg State treasure that's a summer tradition for many families in the area. The amusement park is the best theme park in Connecticut, but it's also a wonderful place to celebrate the holidays or even enjoy a camping getaway.

The park spans 332 acres in Southington and Bristol, and the Lake Compounce photos certainly bring out our sense of adventure... and nostalgia.

Lake Compounce opens for the summer season each year at the end of April. It's one of the best places for a summer day trip in Connecticut.

On typical opening days, Lake Compounce hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours are subject to change and typically vary during special events.

You'll find an array of wonderful rides here, with plenty for thrill seekers. One of the most popular wooden roller coasters in the world is here. The Wildcat was constructed in 1927 and is one of the most park's most beloved rides.

If you're not a fan of adrenaline, don't worry. There are plenty of family rides as well, so the entire family will be able to enjoy something here.

In addition to traditional amusement park rides, the purchase of a Lake Compounce ticket will also get you access to Crocodile Cove, the on-site water park.

Kiddie rides, water slides, a freshwater pool: there's so much to love at Crocodile Cove.

Come fall, you'll find one of the best Halloween events in Connecticut at the park. Phantom Fall Fest offers an experience for the little ones during the day, then after the sun goes down, you'll find frights galore.

And when the weather gets cold and it's time to start thinking about Christmas, head on out for the Christmas lights display at Lake Compounce. The 100-foot tree, holiday festivities, and thousands of lights make for a magnificently festive event.

Lake Compounce tickets can be purchased at the gate or in advance online. It's highly recommended to purchase online, as prices are typically discounted. Season passes are also available.

Note that Lake Compounce is now completely cashless. If you don't have a debit or credit card, there are free Cash to Card kiosks at the park where you can convert your cash onto a card that can be used at Lake Compounce. Leftover funds on the card can be used anywhere that cards are accepted.

Parking is available for a nominal fee that may vary throughout the season, but there's also a drop-off area if you're catching a ride with a friend or using a rideshare service.
