These Five Hole In The Wall BBQ Restaurants In Connecticut Will Make Your Tastebuds Go Crazy
Pulled pork, ribs and brisket are all classic barbeque dishes. Usually when you think about great barbeque, you dream about the tangy, mouth watering dishes from the South. Even though we are a northern state, there are still some fantastic BBQ restaurants in Connecticut. Here are five that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
1. Pig Rig BBQ, Wallingford
It looks simple on the outside, but this BBQ place has a whole lot to offer. A veteran owned business, Pig Rig BBQ is more than just a restaurant. They also offer catering and have a food truck. The hickory smoked barbeque is packed with sweet smokey flavor. The Carolina pulled pork sandwich has quite a great reputation in this joint. Every meal is served with signature sides like smoked mac and cheese, cowboy beans, potato salad and cornbread.

2, RiverView BBQ, Seymour
This restaurant is one of Connecticut's true hidden gems. With a view like this, you are sure to enjoy the food at RiverView BBQ. You don't even need a car to get here, paddle on up in your kayak for a great meal. Not only do they have fabulous barbeque, the baked beans are to die for.

3. House of Bones BBQ, Derby
Located in Derby, this BBQ joint serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their motto is "food served fast, but cooked slow." The breakfast sandwiches are a bit different from the standard fare found at diners. Combine the slow cooked BBQ with egg and cheese and you have a wonderful way to start your day.

4. When Pigs Fly South, Sharon
What started out as a roadside shack with only outdoor seating has turned into a quaint little restaurant adorned with pig decor. However, the pig that is most important is the one that is cooked, slowly so that its meat is falling off the bones. The pulled pork platter is full of tender juicy meat with a sweet but tangy flavor. Also worth noting are the spicy deviled eggs and seafood gumbo loaded with shrimp and crab.
29 West Main St., Sharon, CT
5. Wood's Pit BBQ & Mexican Cafe
So it's an odd combination — or is it? Wood's Pitt BBQ and Mexican Cafe serves barbeque ribs and other standard fare alongside a Mexican menu. The pork is sweet and tender and a perfect hit the spot meal after a long day on nearby Bantam Lake. If you visit make sure and try the jalapeno cornbread. It is one of the specialties that everyone for miles around talks about.
