The Scenic Train Ride In Colorado That Runs Year-Round
One of the MANY great things about Colorado is our many railroads and trains that are open to the public and boast incredible views of the state. For one of these memorable rides that run year-round, we highly recommend climbing aboard Colorado’s one and only Royal Gorge Route Railroad:
Based out of Canon City, the Royal Gorge Route Railroad is a year-round, 2-hour train ride that runs through the iconic Royal Gorge via a section of the former Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad.
"When we set out to resurrect the Royal Gorge Route Railroad line through Colorado’s grandest canyon, our vision was to offer far more than the traditional tourism experience," shares the Railroad, which they have managed to do time and again since their launch in 1998.
Featuring a 1950s-era train, the Royal Gorge Route Railroad's daily rides consist of a scenic journey through the canyon via vista dome, club, and coach cars.
To make your experience even more - dare we say - delicious, take one of the Royal Gorge's breakfast, lunch, or dinner trains, all of which take place year-round and consist of hearty, home-cooked meals.
Depending on the season, you may even be able to partake in one of the Royal Gorge's many special rides, like that of the Valentine's Day, Easter, Oktoberfest, or Santa Express trains.
