Where are some interesting places to go stargazing in the US?
We've all heard about the well-known spots for checking out the stars like Big Bend and Crater Lake, but there are plenty of little-known locations that are pretty stunning. Here are a few interesting places to go stargazing in the US:

  • Voyageurs National Park, MN: This beautiful Dark Sky Park doesn't get as much attention as some of the big-name ones you might be familiar with, but the views are stunning. Not only can you enjoy incredible stargazing, but it is one of the best places in the US to catch an Aurora Borealis. The peacefulness and quiet you'll find at this remote location will take your breath away - especially when the Milky Way is glowing brightly in the heavens.
  • Cross Ranch State Park, ND: North Dakota is another hidden gem when it comes to viewing the night sky. In fact, there are seven designated Dark Sky Parks in the state! A real special treat is to rent a cabin along the Missouri River in the park to enjoy amazing views right from your backyard. With 17 miles of hiking trails, you can enjoy some pretty nice stargazing hikes.
  • Devil's Tower, WY: Wyoming has incredible locations for stargazing like the Grand Teton National Park and the Big Horn Basin. One of our favorites is Devil's Tower. Imagine the epic silhouette of this grand butte standing tall against a glorious Milky Way. It is no wonder this location was chosen for the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind because it is truly otherworldly. It is hard to imagine there isn't life out there somewhere looking for us just as hard as we are looking for them.
