Located in Tyronza, Whitton Farms is a family-run, Certified Naturally Grown farm that’s won countless awards and accolades for, among other things, its beautiful blooms. Yet despite its acclaim, owners Keith and Jill Forrester remain humble and heartfelt, wholly committed to the land and continuing the legacy of this family-run farm. Whitton Farms is the quintessential family-run farm, passed down through four generations with the most tender, loving care.
The farm's roots go back to the early 1900s, when Leona Wells Forrester, Keith's great grandmother, was a widow left to raise four children in Whitton, Arkansas.
Leona came to Whitton as a sharecropper in order to provide for her family. For many years, Leona and her sons painstakingly tended the land, laying the foundation for what would become Whitton Farms.
But it didn't happen overnight; Keith and Jill originally took the reins while also juggling their teaching careers. They were busy -- really busy -- and craved a simpler, more grounded lifestyle.
They set up shop in a few local farmers markets, immediately selling out week after week, ultimately providing the means for the couple to make the leap to full-time farming.
Now in their 16th year of farming specialty crops, Whitton Farms grows everything from squash and tomatoes, to greens, melons, and, of course, flowers.
The flowers really are the stars at Whitton Farms. You can visit for a tour in the spring, and really revel in the resplendence of this Arkansas flower farm.
In addition to picking up flowers directly from the farm, you can find Whitton Farms at local farmers markets, or have flowers delivered through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. They also offer floral workshops and farm dinners.
Keith and Jill are good people -- the kind of folks you just want to be around. Their drive and dedication is admirable, and the love they put into the farm really shows.
To call Whitton Farms “delightful” doesn’t really even begin to describe this Arkansas flower farm. Visiting in the spring, when the flower fields are in bloom, is absolutely divine — and something you really must experience for yourself.
