Fishing And Wildlife Watching Await At This Underrated Arkansas State Park

We love Arkansas’ famed Devil’s Den and Petit Jean but sometimes you’re needing a less crowded escape. Come kayak for the afternoon or camp the weekend away at Millwood State Park. No matter if you’re just trying to get your state park passport stamped or wanting a well-rounded water adventure, Millwood can assist! This underrated park has plenty of adventure so let’s jump right in and find out more:
The not-too-big, not-too-small Millwood State Park is just right for your next Arkansas adventure.
Millwood has 45 campsites including ones with water and electric hook-ups. All sites have a picnic table and grill, too! A couple sites are primitive but all are within walking distance of pleasantly hot showers at the bathhouses.

One thing that particularly stands out at Millwood is the beautiful diversity of flora and fauna.
This is noticeable as soon as you pull up and start to explore! Play on the lake or take a hike to spot the wildlife. The park has two trails: the 1.5-mile Waterfowl Way and 4-mile Wildlife Lane. The latter is cyclist-friendly, too!
The park is even an Audubon Society-recognized birding area!
This "Important Bird Area" has had sightings of over 300 of the state’s 400 species on record. Bring a pair of binoculars and a camera to take advantage of this bird haven. It's definitely something worth tweeting!
In addition to the woodland critters, the park is also a nationally-recognized fishing hotspot.
The park routinely holds bass tournaments but anyone with a rod and some patience can find success here! You may snag large mouth, black bass, crappie, or catfish! Head to the marina if you need a rental or more information.
During the bass tournaments, big catches over 10-lbs. have been recorded. It's quite likely your bass will be at least 4-5 pounds, if not bigger. One of the record catfish catches was even over 60 pounds!
Non-fishers can have just as much fun exploring the lake, too! In addition to having flat-bottom boats to rent, the marina also has canoes, kayaks, and even petal boats.
This state park has provided families and nature lovers memories since the 70s, and will continue to for generations to come!
