Many restaurants in the Natural State are long-standing, and even some that aren’t have some major throwback appeal. Today, however, we’re going to discuss one of the oldest continuously running restaurants in Arkansas. It doesn't only have throwback appeal, it has actual history. That restaurant is called the White House Cafe and it is located in the town of Camden.
You can find the White House Cafe at 323 South Adams Avenue in Camden.
White House Cafe was opened in 1907 by a Greek immigrant named Hristos Hodjopulas.
The cafe began as a place where railroad workers could get a good meal at any time of the day or night. These were the days before neon signs, of course.
In the 1940s, soldiers being moved around by train also found good eats at the White House Cafe.
The cafe has changed hands several times in the 110 years since it’s been around, but its tradition of serving great, home-style food has remained intact.
Their menu includes all the home-cooked favorites you’d expect from a longstanding restaurant...
...and they’ve got some pretty impressive Tex-Mex as well.
It is thought that the White House Cafe has the oldest liquor license in the Natural State, and today they’ve got more than 50 kinds of beer there.
The lounge area at the White House Cafe has pool table and live music. You’re also allowed to smoke in there.
The White House Cafe is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food and tons of history.
It’s a place every Arkansan needs to visit at least once, but it is also a restaurant you’ll find yourself coming back to again and again.
