Baby, it’s warm outside. All that brutal Arkansas heat has just barely arrived, too, which means you’re going to need a whole list of places where you can cool yourself down. You’re in luck, friends, because I’ve compiled this awesome list for you. In no particular order, here are 10 places you can go in the Natural State to get something cool on those hot, hot days.
1. Arkansas Pineapple Whip (Conway)
Food truck, anyone? You’ll find a pretty incredible one in Conway. They’re serving up cool sweet treats you can’t find just anywhere. With creamy tropical flavors that will cool you down, Arkansas Pineapple Whip is an experience every Arkansan needs to try at least once.
Arkansas Pineapple Whip is located at 380 Harkrider Street in Conway.
2. Chunky Dunk: A Milk & Cookies Food Truck (Fayetteville)
Milk and cookies? You can have that favorite snack in a way you’ve never had it before up in Fayetteville. They’ve got freshly made cookies and locally made ice cream from Loblolly Creamery, with combinations you can customize yourself if you want. Though for my money, I’ll take one of their unique menu items every time.
Chunky Dunk is located at 693 West North Street in Fayetteville.
3. Polar Delite (Sherwood)
Nothing says summer quite like a good old fashioned snow cone, and you’ll get just that at the Polar Delite. They’ve got New Orleans style snow balls that will cool you off while reminding you of your favorite snow cone stand from childhood.
Polar Delite is located at 118 Country Club Road in Sherwood.
4. Burton’s Comfort Creamery (Fayetteville)
Tall cones with drizzled sauce, dipped in unique toppings is what you’ll get at Burton’s Comfort Creamery. Their flavors range from sweet to salty to spicy, and there’s nothing quite like eating a colorful cone on a hot, hot day.
Burton’s Comfort Creamery is located at 372 West Dickson Street in Fayetteville.
5. El Dorado Creamery (El Dorado)
You ready for some froyo yet? El Dorado Creamery has tons of it, twelve flavors out at a time and over forty toppings. This shop is the perfect place to create your own froyo dream, and stay cool indoors in the process.
El Dorado Creamery is located at 106 North Washington Avenue #100 in El Dorado.
6. The Shake Shack (Marion)
Southern Living’s Off the Eaten Path series has featured the excellence of this little shake shack, which is a big deal, but maybe not as big a deal as their fried pies and frozen treats. In fact, the whole menu is pretty delicious.
The Shake Shack is located at 409 Military Road in Marion.
7. Bombers Shaved Ice (Rockwell)
Bombers Shaved Ice is one of central Arkansas’s favorite shaved ice spots, which is pretty appropriate considering how many different flavors they have there. They’ve been around for awhile now, the better part of a decade, and they’re here to stay.
Bombers Shaved Ice is located on Airport Road in Rockwell.
8. Froyo Factory (Searcy)
Froyo Factory is everything you could want from a self serve frozen yogurt spot. It’s got eight flavors at a time, over fifty toppings to choose from and . . . AIR CONDITIONING! You’re going to love their pay by the ounce system and their delicious froyo.
Froyo Factory is located at 3530 East Race Avenue in Searcy.
9. King Kone (Hot Springs)
You can’t do much better for frozen sweets than a place called King Kone, especially since it has a giant soft serve cone outside. You won’t only find soft serve there, they’ve also got burgers and fried pies that are absolutely delectable. That ice cream, though, really is something to write home about.
King Kone is located at 1505 Malvern Avenue in Hot Springs.
10. Hobo Joe’s Snowcones & Ice Cream (North Little Rock)
Finally, we’ve got a snowcone stand/ice cream place combo. Hobo Joe’s has a menu with a variety of cool treat you’ll love. Shaved ice, soft serve, shakes, banana splits, awesome dollops of ice cream on top of rolls . . .well, I think you get the idea. They’ve got all the awesome sweet treats you could possibly want.
Hobo Joe’s is located at 3621 Camp Robinson Road in North Little Rock.
