Be forewarned – this is not an article that states these Arkansas towns are completely dangerous. On the contrary, there’s actually a lot of good about these cities and towns across the Natural State and most Arkansans have been through these areas with no trouble whatsoever. With that said, though, any newcomer to Arkansas or any Arkansas traveler in general should know which places in the state to be more careful due to crime or other unsavory factors.

The population of Blytheville, Arkansas is approximately 15,500 and according to the 2014 FBI Uniform Crime Report the town has a crime rate of about 88 per one 1000 residents. The odds of of becoming a victim of a crime in Blytheville are one in eleven.
The chance of becoming a victim of a crime in Pine Bluff is one in twelve; the overall population of the city is over 48,500. Pine Bluff has a crime rate of about 81 per 1000 residents.

With a population of over 26,000 residents, West Memphis has a crime rate (violent and property-related crimes) of about 117 per 1000 residents according to the 2014 FBI Uniform Crime Report. The odds of becoming a victim of a crime in West Memphis are one in nine.
Despite the FBI statistics, there are still a lot of great things about these towns. However, just as you would when traveling anywhere else, take precaution when you’re touring the Natural State and ask the locals about the not-so-scenic places and where not to go if you want to keep a feeling of safety about you.
