Day trips are fun and all, but some destinations beg for you to stick around a while longer. These three park hotels in Arizona let you extend your visit overnight, experiencing all Mother Nature has to offer without feeling rushed. Plus, the views are unbeatable!
1. Grand Canyon Lodge (Grand Canyon, North Rim)
The only hotel on the Grand Canyon's lesser-traveled North Rim, the Grand Canyon Lodge is a truly magical place to spend the night.
The main building of the lodge has a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a deli, a saloon, and a coffee shop.
Visitors can also enjoy a spacious patio overlooking the canyon. The ancient rock landscape extends far as the eye can see - we can't imagine a better way to cap off a great meal.
Perched on the edge of the canyon, the lodge features simple cabins that sleep up to six guests.
The cabins are minimally furnished, but they do include private bathrooms, and some offer panoramic rim views.
Please note: the Grand Canyon Lodge is only open between May 15 and October 15, and cabins are booked well in advance. Learn more here.
2. El Tovar Hotel (Grand Canyon, South Rim)
On the other side of the Grand Canyon, El Tovar Hotel is the oldest hotel still operating within the park.
The lodge was constructed in 1905 using local limestone and Oregon pine, and its rustic charm is undeniable.
Within Grand Canyon Village and eight minutes from the Grand Canyon Railway, the hotel boasts a fine dining restaurant, lounge, gift shop, and newsstand.
Each of the 78 guest rooms is unique, offering a much more memorable experience than the cookie-cutter hotels of today.
Many of the rooms are suites, some with their own balconies and attached sitting areas. Learn more here.
3. The View Hotel (Monument Valley)
We'd be remiss not to include Monument Valley in this list, as its on-site hotel provides some of the most striking views on earth. While this isn't designated as an American national park, it is considered a national park by many, including the Navajo Nation.
Located just across the Arizona-Utah state line, the Navajo-owned View Hotel is the only hotel within the park.
The rooms feature Southwestern-inspired décor - including locally-woven rugs - and plenty of amenities to make you feel relaxed and at home. Guests can enjoy an on-site restaurant with a breakfast buffet, a trading post, and an exercise room.
Each room leads out onto a private balcony with sweeping views of Monument Valley.
Can't you picture yourself starting your day out here with a cup of coffee and nothing but the sound of silence filling your ears? Learn more here.
The View also has a campground with equally breathtaking views. Learn more about it here.
