Arizona has some very unique places to dine. From a restaurant hundreds of feet underground in a cave to the oldest Mexican restaurant in the U.S., when we're seeking a dining experience unlike all the others, we can find it here in Arizona. One such place is hidden in plain sight. And without the sign out front...
It looks a little quirky; so much so, that if you don't see the sign, you'd never guess it's a restaurant.
That's because this one-of-a-kind eatery is located three flights of stairs under that blue and white facade.
On your way down, you'll pass by the bar, with has a skylight that's located under the blue canopy above. But, it may come as a surprise to you that being underground isn't the only thing that makes this eatery so different!
It is appropriately named SALT CELLAR because it's widely revered for getting the freshest seafood possible from all around the world... a rare feat indeed.
Not only is Salt Cellar known for always having fresh Maine lobster, they also routinely have fresh catch from Hawaii, Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, the Chesapeake Bay, Georges Bank and even New Zealand.
With so many choices, you may just want to get a little of each because it may be difficult to decide!
One of their signature dishes is their Shrimp San Remo dinner entree (also available as an appetizer) served over pappardelle pasta. Wow.
The atmosphere in this underground seaside hideaway is cozy, quiet and casual, yet with an elegant flair. The decor and lighting give it a feel of intimacy that's perfect for a special occasion, or just winding down from a long day.
Are you ready for one of the most unique dining experiences in America: an underground seaside hideaway in the middle of the desert &mdash: with the best seafood around?
Salt Cellar Restaurant is located at 550 North Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85257. Reservations are recommended. Salt Cellar is open seven days a week from 5:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m. Learn more on the official website for Salt Cellar, and on their Facebook page.
