The Milkshakes From This Marvelous Arizona Sweet Shop Are Almost Too Wonderful To Be Real
Milkshakes just taste better in an old-fashioned diner. Having been around for nearly a century, MacAlpine’s Soda Fountain in Phoenix definitely fits the bill. This long-standing eatery offers 99 different milkshake flavors, as well as coffee, homemade pie, and full meals. Check it out:
This building dates back to 1929, when Phoenix was just a remote town out in the boonies. A decade later, Fred MacAlpine turned the store into a soda fountain that would become the center of activity for decades.
While its exterior has changed quite a bit over the years, no amount of time can erase the memories made at this quintessential restaurant. Having outlasted the Great Depression and WWII, MacAlpine's houses nearly a century of historical significance.
Grab a barstool and marvel at the 99 different syrup flavors. Don't get too overwhelmed with all the options, as a waitress decked out in ‘50s garb will arrive shortly to take your order.
Have your shake made with either ice cream or one of the tasty syrups. From banana to peach and s'mores to red velvet cake, rest-assured everyone can find something that fits their fancy.
Who else wants to dive head-first into that pillow-soft mountain of whipped cream? You can also add peanut butter, marshmallow sauce, chocolate fudge, or a fresh banana to any shake for even more indulgence. Other beverages include malts, floats, ice cream sodas, and egg creams.
Not an ice cream fan? Perhaps you'd prefer a slice of homemade Amish pie. Several fruit varieties offer flavors perfect for springtime, and the pecan with a salted caramel drizzle is sinfully scrumptious.
MacAlpine's full lunch and dinner menu feature sandwiches, burgers, salad, and soup. Pictured is an open-face roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and steamed carrots - a perfectly wholesome, hearty meal to offset all that sugar.
You’ll find MacAlpine’s Diner & Soda Fountain at 2303 N 7th St., Phoenix, AZ 85006. For more information, head to the diner’s website or Facebook page.
