Arizona is full of small towns, but this one tops the list in terms of having the fewest residents. Alamo Lake has a population of just 25, and it's a charming lakeside community that belongs on everyone's travel bucket list.
With a whopping 25 permanent residents, Alamo Lake is one of the smallest towns in Arizona.
It spans a mere 46 square miles, much of which is covered by water.
The pristine lake that serves as the community’s namesake was created over 50 years ago by the construction of Alamo Dam.
Not only does this infrastructural marvel keep Western Arizona safe during periods of heavy rainfall, but it also provides a place to connect with nature away from hectic city life.
Residents can simply walk to the waterfront from their homes and enjoy a day of fun in the sun whenever the urge strikes.
Covered picnic tables offer plenty of shade to protect against the unbearable desert summer heat.
For visitors, eight rustic log cabins are available for overnight lodging.
Amenities include two bunk-style beds, living space, a private porch, and other basic creature comforts to ensure your stay is nothing short of unforgettable.
There are also plenty of RV and tent sites, all with 360-degree views of the surrounding mountain landscape.
It isn’t uncommon to spot bald eagles, foxes, wild burros, and plenty of other majestic wildlife, so be on the lookout!
As daylight fades, the sky comes alive in a spectacular show of colors.
Try to stick around until night fully sets in - the nearest city is 40 miles away, so the stargazing is unparalleled.
The park is open 24/7, and the entrance fee is $7 per vehicle.
