Just an hour northwest of the Phoenix metro, Castle Hot Springs is an oasis tucked away in the remote Bradshaw Mountains.
Indigenous people journeyed to the springs on horseback for many years, believing the water had medicinal properties. When the railroad came to town, entrepreneur Frank M. Murphy turned the property into Arizona's very first wellness resort. Celebrities and dignitaries flocked to the springs to soak in their mineral-rich waters, and business was booming...until tragedy struck, that is. Fires engulfed two of the resort's most iconic buildings, and the only option was to close up shop. All wasn't lost, however — after sitting abandoned for 40 years, Castle Hot Springs officially reopened in 2019.
Surrounded by canyon walls and rugged desert beauty, three spring-fed pools offer a blissful escape from the daily grind.
Guests can also take part in paddleboard yoga, guided hikes, meditation and yoga classes, a tour of the onsite farm, and several other daily activities. Dine on exquisite, farm-to-table meals at The Harvest, and sip handcrafted cocktails at Bar 1896. There's so much to do, boredom isn't even in the realm of possibilities.
Luxury accommodations include bungalows, cabins, and a historic, 1,200-square-foot cottage that once housed such notable families as the Roosevelts, Rockefellers, and Vanderbilts.

All resort guests enjoy private decks, but only the cabins feature outdoor clawfoot tubs.
