This Neighborhood Candy Store In Arizona Will Make You Feel Like A Kid Again

If you have a sweet tooth like me, there’s probably nothing more dreamy than watching long lines of salted caramels or chocolate covered pretzels slowly march down a conveyer belt just waiting to be eaten. And guess what? You don’t have to watch Willy Wonka or simply imagine it; that dream actually exists right here at the Cerreta Candy Company.

Cerreta Candy Company, located at the southeast corner of 54th and Glendale Avenues, first opened its doors in 1968 as a family-owned and operated business dedicated to producing fine chocolates and candies. Since then, it has enjoyed a wonderful 48 years as Glendale's neighborhood candy shop, much to the delight of children and candy lovers all over the Valley.

Their store has a wide collection of all kinds of candies made in-house! You can find seasonal favorites like candy apples, multiple versions of caramels, and even some Arizona-only confections like chocolate covered jalapenos!

But the candy shop isn't just a place to pick up a box of chocolates. It operates as a full-scale candy factory, melding old-fashioned candy making with more modern techniques to produce large batches of sweets while still giving each item a little bit of love.

And one of the best parts? The moment you step in the door, you can see for yourself the work Cerreta's puts into each piece of chocolate. They provide free guided tours on weekdays where you can watch sugar, chocolate, and other ingredients turn into french mint truffles.

During the tour, you get to taste some of the candies fresh off the conveyor belt. Afterwards, you have the option of making your own candy "pizza" (like the icing-crazed children above). Once that's all done, you get to roam the candy shop freely to purchase your favorite, recently made confection.

Cerreta Candy Company is located at 5345 West Glendale Avenue in Glendale. Tours are offered on weekdays at 10am and 1pm. The shop itself is open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 6pm. You can find more information at their website or on their Facebook page.
